Barb began her career in real estate 16 years ago, following her long tenure as a Town Clerk, where she developed extensive skills and abilities which benefit both buyers and sellers alike. With a passion for educating and advocating for her clients’ needs, Barb has proven success in cultivating long-lasting relationships. She takes a genuine interest in helping buyers and sellers navigate the real estate process, and consistently offers a compassionate, detail-oriented approach to guiding her clients through transitions.

Barb grew up in the Champlain Islands, and is nearing two decades of service to the Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle County communities as a real estate agent. She is deeply involved in these communities through her participation and leadership with multiple boards and membership organizations, including; Professional Standards Board, Vermont Association of Realtors, Vermont Association of Homebuilders Remodelers (and its Remodeler Council), Christian Ministries, Ethan Allen Club, and Essex Alliance Church. Barb is also a frequent educator at local first time home buyers seminars and is proud to hold the Accredited Buyer’s Representative designation; something less than three percent of agents nationwide earn. In 2018, Barb became the only agent in Vermont, and one of only a few nationwide, to earn the designation of Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert. She is passionate about using this knowledge and expertise to better serve her clients in need of mediation and additional support.

Partnering with her husband Curtis Trousdale in January of 2008, Preferred Properties was opened to allow Barb to further serve her local community by providing clients with highly personalized services. Together they enjoy spending time outdoors and with their faithful office dog Gunner, as well as with their twin grandchildren.
